Falling in love with an apartment that has not yet been fully completed
One of the biggest stories from last week in our series: an apartment built in the 1920s by three London apartments was recently the subject of a fascinating series of interviews with developers who are part of the project who are building the new building.
This is one of the most fascinating stories of last week. It's an apartment built from 1921 to 1927 by four men in the very same area, after which the building was fully complete. The architects were David Haring and Peter Robinson, both senior building engineers at the BBC. They're both thought to have been very successful at it:
One of those men - David Haring - worked at a London bank for almost 18 years ... at one point he got a letter to pay up his £2,000 loan. He was able to work, and still do so, all the while living in a small two-storey flat, with what can only be described as a rather small sofa. In the late 1940s the owners bought three of them, and they were very lucky to survive, even though it was built right here ... they had to get rid of some of the stuff on them.
